I wouldn't say Twitter is replacing blogging. Twitter is microblogging, and regular blogs are just that. My blog gets just as many or more hits now than before.
Perhaps it's easier for people to shoot out 140 characters because of laziness, disorganization and lack of commitment. Time constraints is the excuse most people give, but I find that people have plenty of time and/or lack organization or motivation. That's something different altogether.
